Presentations That Don’t Put You to Sleep
Dave Wilson, HEAnet

The best presenters seem to be able to keep audiences fascinated. Is that just because they have great material to work with, or are there lessons we can all use in our presentations?

In this workshop, we'll look at two presentations by famous speakers and see what they did to make their topics interesting and entertaining. We'll take the discussion wherever the participants want it to go, but some areas we could cover are:

  • Visual aids and visualising data
  • What's important to the audience?
  • How technical should I get?
  • Constructing a story
  • How to cheat
